2010 - 2011

James Harmon - Secretary General (SG)

Represents the face of WASMUN
Works with outreach efforts (in conjunction with USGEA and USGDA)
Manages faculty training and research documentation
Obtains room reservations
Oversees the rest of the Secretariat in their work.

James is the Secreetary General for WASMUN 2011. This is his 4th year working on the WASMUN secretariat, first as USGPR (now USGEA), then as Charge d' Affairs, last year as USGDA, and now finall as SG. He also served as a director first in the IAEA in 2008 and then in the Security Council in 2009. Additionally, he was a delegate at WASMUN in 2006 and 2007. Currently, James is in his fourth year at the University of Washington, pursuing his B.A. in Political Science and Near Eastern Studies: Languages and Civilizations focusing on Arabic, as well as his B.S. in Economics. James is thoroughly excited to work with the many schools and delegates who attend the WASMUN conference, and hopes that he can find better and more innovative ways to serve the conference and it's attendees.

Tyler Doyle - Director General (DG)

Handles all substantive concerns of the conference
Oversees the activities of the Committees
Responsible for hiring and training directors and committee staff
Ensures the completion and posting of Committee Topic Synopses
Ensures the completion and return of Position Paper reviews
Trains Committee staff and schedules meetings thereto
Works with the USG-DA in selecting countries for committees.

Tyler is the this year's Director General. He is a senior at Seattle University, majoring in International Economic Development, and minoring in Philosophy. He has five years of Model UN experience, starting with his high school's club in 2005. He has served as staff for WASMUN the past 3 years, a moderator for WTO, director for ECOSOC, USGEA on secretariat last year, and had attended as a delegate the 2 years prior to that. He has attended over 10 conferences as a delegate, both in and out of the northwest. He will also be staffing for NWMUN on the Administrative Secretariat, and as a Director of Simulations for CIMUN, a Chicago-based high school conference

Sylvia Tashev - Undersecretary General for Information Technology (USG-IT)

Maintains the website and database
Manages contact information and accounts
Keeps digital data and resources organized
Guarantees that all digital documents (synopses, manual, etc.) are presentable
Creates additional web application features as necessary
Prepares print materials like the program and awards

Sylvia is a fourth year student at UW and a Computer Science major who enjoys working with technology and web development. She is also interested in art and foreign language and is minoring in Spanish. Sylvia has been a delegate at WASMUN for three years, moderated for the World Health Organization in 2008 and served on the Secretariat in 2009 and 2010. As the USG for Information Technology she deals with all technological administration, primarily the website which she designed and created in 2008 especially for WASMUN and still continues to expand in order to better service the conference.

Alizeh Bhojani - Chief of Staff (CoS)

Works with the Director General
Coordinates the crisis staff, including hiring
Handles all finances
Orders supplies: Pins, Pens, Gavels, Food, etc.

Alizeh is the Chief of Staff for WASMUN 2011. She hails originally from Karachi, Pakistan, but has been living in Washington State for the past eleven years. She has been involved with WASMUN for the past seven. Alizeh started out as a reporter for the WASMUN Post, then served as a delegate throughout highschool. She was a director for the Historical Security Council and has been a delegate to college MUN conferences. This will be her fourth year as a member of the Secretariat, and she is excited to work for this year's conference. She is starting her fourth year at the UW and is pursuing a double major in International Studies and French.

Shima Houshayr - Undersecretary General for External Affairs (USG-EA)

Finds a guest speaker for the opening ceremonies
Develops outreach efforts within the University of Washington
Seeks out sponsorship
Creates advertising materials and brochures
Obtains permits for signs for the day of the conference

Shima Houshyar is a senior at the University of Washington, majoring in Political Science and French. She is serving as WASMUN 2011 Undersecretary General of External Affairs. Shima joined Model United Nations at the University of Washington (UW-MUN) in 2008 - 2009. She served as the 2009 - 2010 Director of External Affairs for UW-MUN and has staffed WASMUN twice. Shima has attended and staffed a total of 15 conferences and is excited to be part of this year's Secretariat.
