The General Assembly Second Committee adopts resolutions related to a range of financial and economic matters. The General Assembly is one of the 6 primary organs of the United Nations (UN) created by the Charter of the United Nations (Charter) in 1945. The Second Committee comprises all 193 Members States of the UN. While the resolutions it passes are non-binding, they still hold considerable political weight for Member States. This committee discusses a wide range of issues dealing with financing and development, as well as global partnerships.
The topics considered at WASMUN 2020:
I. Agriculture development, food security and nutrition
II. Unilateral economic measures as a means of political and economic coercion against developing countries
